The new Auditor- General for the Federation ( AuGF), Shaakaa Kanyitor Chira, has pledged to restore the lost glory in the office for optimal performance and greater heights.
Chira gave the indication in a meeting with Auditors- In- Charge in the office for the Auditor General.
He stressed that, “my clarion call to us is to always put the office of the Auditor-General for the Federation first in whatever we do and always strive to place it on good pedestal in order to take it to enviable height”.
The new AuGF therefore charged the Auditors-In-Charge to deliberate on how to redeem the image of the office by playing active roles in the Auditor General office.
Chira also urged them to take measures that will facilitate timely completion of audit assignments and submission of reports by making staff perform optimally.
Other measures to be taken seriously, according to the AuGF are Staff welfare, discipline and posting by “aligning the work and operational processes of the office of the Auditor-General for the Federation with global good practices and other things as are necessary to surpass public expectations “,
AuGF Chira added.
He promised to unveil a clear blue print on the management and staff of the OAuGF as well as the general public after another meeting with key holders later in the week.
One of the highlights of the meeting was a response from one of the staff, Mr Eyo, the Deputy Director and the Auditor in charge, ministry of Foreign Affairs, who pledged and unalloyed support to the new Auditor General for the Federation, on behalf of his colleagues.
Meanwhile, the Senate has confirmed the appointment of Shaakaa Chira as the Auditor General for the Federation.
Our Correspondent reports that the news of his appointment was greeted with wild jubilation in the office of Auditor General for the Federation at Audit house, Abuja.
