Following the arrest of Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the NLC, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have issued a notice of strike to the Federal Government making a six- point demand.-
This was made known during a press briefing on Friday by the leaders of NLC and TUC.
Their demands include the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police, Imo State, the Area Commander, and other officials who are believed to be involved in the mistreatment and degradation of Comrade Ajaero and fellow workers.
The unions, thereby, issued November 8 as the new date for a nationwide strike should the government fail to meet its demands.
During the week some persons suspected to be agents of the state and security operatives reportedly attacked Ajaero alongside other Labour leaders dispossessing them of their personal valuables after they gathered at the NLC State secretariat in Owerri, the Imo state capital to begin a protest over unpaid salaries and allowances , pensions and others.
