
The Senate has invited the leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC and the Trade Union Congress TUC to a meeting aimed at ending the indefinite strike.
In a resolution following a point of order by the leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele,on Wednesday,members of the Upper Legislative chamber also urged the organised Labour to suspend strike in the interest of the country.
The organised Labour had embarked on a nationwide strike on Tuesday, November 14 to protest the physical assault in Owerri on Joe Ajaero, the NLC President
Worried by the strike, the Federal Government announced that those responsible for the beating of Ajaero have been arrested.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Federal Government and Labour leaders are meeting to bring the strike to an end.
