…..Appoints Natasha Akpabio, 14 others To Choice Committees.
The Senate on Tuesday appointed Senator South, Abba Moro ( Benue South)as minority leader and Osita Ngwu( Enugu West)as minority whip .
The new officers replaced Simon Mwadkwon, ( PDP Plateau North) and Darlington Nwokocha,( LP Abia Central) respectively.
Mwadkwon and Nwokocha were both sacked by the Court of Appeal.
Current matters learnt that there was an uproar at the upper legislative chamber moments after the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio read the letter said to be from the minority caucus announcing the replacement of the ousted Senators.
It was gathered that the senator representing Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, interrupted the plenary yelling at the president of the senate “Are we your slaves? Why will the Senate president be picking leaders for us?
In response to Nwoye, Akpabio asked the minority groups to ‘put their house in order first “adding “the senate president can only work with what is before him. You have Senator Abaribe and Aliero, their names are not here.”
Meanwhile,Senate president, Godswill Akpabio has named Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP Kogi Central) as the Chairman local content committee and vice chairman of steel respectively.
A statement by Arogbonlo Israel, the Chief Press Secretary to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, said that Akpabio made the appointment shortly after the appointment of the minority officers
According to the statement, the Presiding Officer of the senate also appointed 14 other senators as chairmen and vice chairmen of different committee

- National Atomic and Nuclear Energy – Sahabi Alhaji Yau (Chairman), Mustapha Khalid Ibrahim (Vice Chairman)
- Youth and Community Engagement – Yemi Adaramodu (Chairman)
- Sport Development – Kawu Sumaila (Chairman), Ned Nwoko (Vice Chairman)
