As part of activities marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Senate Committee on Women Affairs today organized a solidarity Road Walk to sensitize the people on need to stop all forms of Violence Against Women in Nigeria.
The Sensitization Walk which took off from Eagles Square in Abuja ,the FCT at 7am , attracted Women from various backgrounds.
Speaking to Journalists after the Road Walk, the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs,Sen. Ipalibo Harry Banigo DSSRS, said Women are peculiar Creatures of God who must be protected from all forms of Domestic, Sexual and Social Violence.
Sen.Banigo disclosed that the event , usually observed on the 25th of November every year, requires support from all Stakeholders to dismantle obnoxious customs and strengthen legislative instruments that would end Gender Violence.
She commended her Colleagues and all the Women for turning up in solitary for the advocacy Campaign.
