The All Progressives Congress, APC Anambra State chapter, has formally received Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and Senator Uche Ekwunife, along with their supporters and others, into the party.
The state chairman of the APC, Chief Basil Ejidike who formally received the two senators, hailed the leadership qualities of President Bola Tinubu and expressed optimism that the APC will take Anambra State in 2025 ,
According to the party chairman,the manpower and resources are readily available to achieve victory for the party in the next election in the state.
“The year 2025 affords us yet another opportunity to contest and win Anambra State Government House. Let us as one family work towards achieving this goal for our party.
“I enjoin the new members not to fail to sustain their dogged and positive humanitarian spirits, which is their hallmark. We urge you to double this inherent spirit in your service to the party.
“The APC will definitely provide you the platform to do more in this regard. I pledge our unalloyed support and cooperation in all our dealings with all of you. Please, rest assured that the party is large enough to accommodate everyone’s political aspirations.”
In his acceptance speech, Ubah said APC has berthed in the state with his membership.
He said” it was unfortunate that the state was not connected to the centre despite the fact that it has all it takes to drive development as it is the gateway to the South East”, adding that the APC would no longer keep quiet in Anambra and pretend that all is well.
On her part, Ekwunife thanked the APC for accepting them into the fold and promised that she would do her best to ensure that the party is properly positioned to connect to the centre .
Before his defection to the APC on October 12,2023, Ubah was a card carrying member of the Young Progressives Party YPP. It was on the platform of the YPP that he was elected into the Senate in 2019 and re-elected in 2023.
Ekwunife was formally with the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. She contested the 2023 election to represent her Senatorial District on the platform of the PDP but lost to Victor Umeh of the Labour party.
