The City of Fugar in Edo State is set once again to celebrate love and unity during this year’s cultural carnival from 22nd to 27th of this Month.
The Chairman, Planning Committee of the Fugar Cultural Festival, Dr(Chief) Francis Ogege, who disclosed this in a statement, says that the six day action packed events will showcase the best cultural presentations and Tourist Sites Visitation.
“Other events listed include, Football Match; Beauty Pageant Contest(Miss Fugar Queen); Wrestling and Dancing Competitions; Lecture/Award Nite plus a 5 Kilometre endurance trek from tourist sites”.
Ogege explained that preparations are almost concluded to ensure that guests from the world enjoy all the events in a carnival setting.
He noted that the cultural Festival being championed by the Fugar Progressive Union, FPU, a socio cultural group, is in collaboration with the Etsako Central LG and National Council For Arts and Culture, NCAC, with the theme, “Preserving Our Roots, Cultural Values, Identity and Heritage”.
The Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Solomon Obomighie, assured that the tourist sites at Edegbake, Oghodoghodo and Ozikor, would be given a facelift that will ease access to Tourists during and after the cultural Festival.
On his part, the President General of FPU, Barrister Richard Anetekhai, who is elated and satisfied with the level of preparations, promised to liaise with security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful cultural Festival, which is fast attaining national and global relevance.
One of the special attractions in this year’s festival is the maiden edition of Miss Fugar Queen Beauty Pageant, to be held at the prestigious Philopet Continental Hotel and Suites, Fugar.
Our Correspondent reports that last year’s edition of the inter Villages Cultural presentation was won by Ivhiavhia Village, closely followed by Ivhiokhile Village. The inter-branches part was clinched by FPU, Auchi, with Abuja trailing behind.
The grand Finale of this 5th edition of Fugar Cultural Festival will be graced by Governor Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu and top government officials from State and National levels.
