Mrs Rhoda Jatau, the lady who protested against the killing of Sokoto student, Deborah Samuel Yakubu and got detained has finally regained her freedom.
In May 2022, Deborah,a 200 level student of Home Economics at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto was mobbed and killed by religious fanatics who accused her of blasphemy.
Jatau, protested the gory death of Deborah and was accused of multiple offences of inciting disturbance ,Contempt for religious creed among others.
However,following mounting agitations by family members, colleagues, friends and CSOs across the country and a recent appeal to the first Lady of the Federation for intervention, Rhoda Jatau was on Friday granted bail by a Bauchi State High Court sitting in Bauchi.
Current matters learnt that the High Court presided over by Justice Fatima Jibrin, heard and granted the bail application brought before it by Jatau’s lawyer, Barr Danboyi.
It was also gathered that for fear of reactions the court decision would generate, the sitting of the Court was closed to public attention.
Her release, was said to be facilitated by an executive order by the state governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir.
