The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu to go and defend himself in the 7- count Terrorism Charges against him.
Kano, who was whisked away from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi in a private jet on Sunday,27th June 2021and flown to Nigeria to answer questions bordering on terrorism has been in detention since then.
In October 2022, the Court of Appeal struck out the terrorism charges against Kanu and ordered his release, however, the Department of State Services DSS, held him on.
But In a judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim but written by Justice Garba Lawal, the Supreme Court voided and set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal.
On issues bordering on his fundamental human rights, the Apex Court held that no Nigerian law was cited to secure his release on mere abduction from Kenya adding that what Kanu could have done in this regard should be to file a civil suit against such an unlawful act
