A family of Eight travelling home for the New Year celebration have died in an auto crash at the Amanwozuzu junction in the Ikeduru local government area of Imo State.
Current matters gathered that the incident, happened around 3 pm on Friday, December 29 when the Sienna car in which they were traveling in hit a stationary truck carrying rods .
The deceased who were members of one family died after the rods ripped their bodies.
.It was learnt that the villagers forced the vehicle open to bring out the mangled bodies of the crash victims.
Speaking to newsmen, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, SP Lucky Ahole, said the stationary truck was parked at the roadside when the driver of the Sienna rammed into it killing the 8 family members.
“It is horrifying. Eight died and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies. The rod pierced their eyes and bodies and even the children died.” The DPO said.
