Fresh details have emerged regarding the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management, Dr. Edu Betta
Edu was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pave the way for investigation on alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) and the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry as a whole.
Current Matters gathered that when Edu got wind of her imminent suspension, she hurriedly left for the villa with her convoy to see the President . She was, however, restricted to the President’s waiting room where she watched her suspension announced on TV News Channels.
When it was clear that she was not going to see the President, . Edu decided to leave. She went outside but found out that her entire security details and vehicles that accompanied her convoy were gone. It was learnt that following the announcement of her suspension, the security details were withdrawn and ordered to report to their respective commands .
It was also gathered that the Department of State Services DSS also took away the Villa Access Tag of the suspended Minister . However, an aide to the President, volunteered to use his vehicle to give the Minister a ride out of the villa .
Edu 37, was until her suspension,one of the leading Ministers of the present administration in view of her capacity to negotiate an inflow of funds to alleviate the situation of people impacted by humanitarian crisis.
Her appointment as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation was seen as a welcome development by many in view of her past achievements as Commissioner for Health in Cross River State where she was said to have revolutiionalised the state healthcare system.
She was one of the vocal voices behind the Tinubu/ Shettima campaign .
