As campaign posters of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state liiter the nooks and crannies of towns in the state, the All Progressives Congress APC said that the gubernatorial election coming up later in 2024 will be open for contest to all eligible aspirants
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka made this known in a popular Channels TV program ” Politics Today” on Thursday .
Morka said that the decision by the party not to give an automatic ticket to Aiyedatiwa stemmed from the party’s democratic stance adding that the APC believes that anyone who desires the party’s nomination must earn it .
Aiyedatiwa succeeded his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN who died last month.
It was gathered that the political crisis in the state generated by the ill health and death of Akeredolu had yet to go down weeks after Aiyedatiwa, the former Deputy Governor was sworn in as governor.
Already, caucuses have been formed by frontline members of the party who are said to be determined to wrest power from Aiyedatiwa in the party primary ahead of the election scheduled for November 16.
