The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has arrived at the State House, Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Blinken, who arrived at about 6.55pm on Tuesday was received at by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, and Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
Blinken is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Tinubu and some of his key appointees.
He is also expected to have a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, before his departure later this evening for Lagos where he is billed to meet with the business community on Wednesday.
The US Secretary of State is also touring three other African nations namely Cape Verde, Ivory Coast and Angola, His visit to Africa aims to focus on discussions related to regional security, conflict prevention, democracy promotion, and trade.
The tour also seeks to emphasize the Biden administration’s commitment to partnership with Africa in issues such as climate , economic , investment, health and food.
