The Nigerian Police have arrested the National Chairman of the Labour party, Julius Abure.
Abure was arrested on Wednesday in Benin City , the Edo State capital,a statement by the Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force zone 5, Tijani Momoh said.
Momoh said Abure was apprehended by men of the Command for attempted murder, illegal possession of arms and related offences
The arrest of Abure according to the police spokesperson followed a petition written against Abure and four others over allegations of murder and “endorsed by the AIG zone 5 from the office of the Inspector General of Police “
” There are video clips recording of the petitioner being assaulted , being beaten when he came home last year to conduct ward matters,Momoh told journalists.
He said ” it is a case of attempted murder, conspiracy, illegal possession of arms and other related offences “
” They were also in possession of firearms,a short gun and three rounds of ammunition .
” Investigation is ongoing” Momoh said
