The Senate Committee on Health has expressed disappointment over the abysmal state and poor management of the federal College of Alternative Medicine (FEDCAM), Abuja .
To this end ,it has threatened to ensure that money appropriated would be revoked .
The Chairman, Senate Committee, Sen.Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo DSSRS disclosed this when she and her Committee members visited some Federal Govt Hospitals and Health Establishments in Abuja, the FCT as part of their oversight functions .
Sen.Banigo noted that the it was unacceptable for the management of FEDCAM , which is supposed to provide alternative health care services, to operate in such an unkempt rented apartment, looking like a dysfunctional environment with only a few number of Staff on ground, describing the facility as a “Scam” .
Nevertheless, the Former Deputy Governor of Rivers State ,was however impressed with the high sense of duty and Patriotism displayed by Doctors and Health Care Providers at the National Hospital, Abuja.
She assured the management of the Hospitals of “legislative Support” to enable them effectively carry out their functions in line with the renewed Hope mantra of President Tinubu’s administration in providing guality health facilities across the Geopolitical Zones in the Nation .
At the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) , Dr. Banigo emphasized the need for proper Data collation and use of Technology for efficient service delivery.
The Senate Health Committee also inspected various Departments and construction works at Federal Staff Clinic Gwarinpa and charged the Handlers of the various Federal Govt Health Projects, to ensure that they deliver on the value of the Budget for all Projects being carried out ;stressing that “it would no longer be business as usual because we must account for every kobo of the Nigerian Tax Payers “, Sen. Banigo insisted.
