The All Progressives Congress APC Governorship Primary Election Committee in Edo state has declared Senator Monday Okpebholo as winner of the election held on Thursday,22nd February,2024 in Benin City,the state capital.
Okpebholo representing Edo Central was declared winner of the election by the Chairman of the Election Committee,, Governor Bassey Otu after collation of results from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the results declared at Lushville Hotel and Suites, Gapiona Avenue, Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin,Okpebholo polled a total of 12,433 votes to defeat Dennis Idahosa the representative of Ovia constituency in the House of Representatives, who received 6,541 votes.
The Edo Governorship election has been scheduled to be held on 21st September 2024.
The off -cycle election in the state appears to be a two -horse race between the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
