The Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS has lifted Sanctions imposed on Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger following the forceful takeover of government by the Military.
Addressing the press at the end of an extra ordinary session of the community in Abuja on Saturday, President of the Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray said that ECOWAS mainly lifted some categories of sanctions including commercial purely on humanitarian grounds especially for the Lent season and the Ramadan fast
Touray said political and immigration sanctions still remain in force.
