The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have announced a 7-day warning strike to demand the payment of four months salaries withheld for their members following the 2022 nationwide strike.
The announcement followed a resolution by a joint meeting of the unions in Akure, the Ondo State capital at the weekend.
The President of SSANU, Mohammed Ibrahim who made the resolution of the meeting known to journalists in Abuja on Monday, emphasized that the warning strike was deemed necessary after numerous attempts to engage with the Federal Government failed to yield the desired outcome of salary payment.
The warning strike of the university unions comes days after the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC embarked on a two- day warning strike over commensurate wage rise amid the growing hardship in the country.
