Although the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained,a source who escaped the inferno told our reporter that it might be electrical, while another said it started with a protest by some youths.
The market houses sections of gold and silver stores in the manner of the United Arab Emirates commercial city, Dubai. It also has sections for banks,food,comestics, households and other varieties as well as car parks.
A call to some of the shop owners by this publication was not successful as their phones were switched off
The gates of the market are barricaded by the police who scared people from accessing the market as traders and customers rushed to get out of the market using alternative exit routes.
The fire had done a great damage to goods before fire fighters arrived at the scene of the incident.a bystander said.
