Soldiers from the joint task force, led by Major General Jamal Abdussalam of the 6th Division Nigerian Army, recovered fourteen lifeless bodies of slain soldiers in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The military men were on a rescue mission in Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday when they were reportedly ambushed and killed by armed youths.
The bodies were recovered in the early hours of Saturday, 16th March, 2024.
The soldiers were killed in a gruesome manner with some beheaded and others having their stomachs and hearts removed, current matters learnt
Reports further indicates that the bodies of the commanding officer and two majors were found floating near the NDDC jetty, while others were discovered on land.
Meanwhile ,the 6th Division Nigerian Army, based in Port Harcourt, has cordoned off communities in Bomadi and Ughelli South, with oversight from the 63rd Brigade in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The Chief of Defence Staff,( CDS )Christopher Musa, has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing of the four senior officers and twelve soldiers.
