Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky for abusing the Naira.
Controversial cross -dresser , Idris Okuneye popularly called Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the charge of naira abuse preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.
The judge convicted him after a review of the facts of the case.
Presenting his statement,,Bobrisky told the court that he was unaware that abuse of the Naira was an offence
He pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the court to give him “a second chance” to educate people using his social media platform” where he has over 5 million followers about spraying money”
” I will not repeat it again . I regret my actions my lord ” he said.
The judge then told him that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.
By his conviction, Bobrisky risks 5 years in prison or paying an option of fine.
The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN in 2018 warned that spraying of Naira attracts 5- year jail term for offenders.
