Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has appointed a new deputy governor following the sacking of Philip Shaibu the former Deputy Governor by the House of Assembly early Monday morning.
The new appointee Omobayo Marvelous Godwins ,a 38- year – old who reportedly contested for a seat in the House of Representatives under the Labour party.
Godwins hails from Akoko-Edo, Edo North Senatorial District.
The former deputy governor was impeached after the Assembly adopted the report of a seven-man panel led by Justice S. A Omonuwa that indicted him of gross misconduct.
Shaibu was said to have been given several opportunities to appear before the panel to defend himself but he failed to appear on the grounds that there was a pending case in court challenging his impeachment .
