Barring any moment from now, the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC might come under a legal challenge following threat by the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.,Dr Betta Edu
Edu was suspended by President Bola Tinubu on 8 January 2024 over N585m scandal.
The president also ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to arrest her.
However early this week, fresh allegations by the BBC indicated that the sum of N30bn were recovered from several accounts of the embattled minister.
Describing the reports as spurious and an attempt to defame her reputation, Edu has threatened to drag the BBC to court for defamation.
Writing through her counsel,Chikaosolu Ojukwu SAN ,Edu is demanding $50m compensation from the broadcasting organisation.
Part of the letter read;
‘ Our client has suffered immeasurable reputational damage , Psychological trauma and anguish as a direct consequence of the publication and dissemination of the article “
Edu 37, is still not back in office as no proof of innocence has been established in her case.
