The former commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Rivers State, Prof.Zachaeus Adangor SAN and his Finance Counterpart, Isaac Kamalu have resigned from office.
Until late Tuesday when they were redeployed to Special Duties and Employment Generation respectively,,Adangor was in charge of the Justice Ministry while Kamalu was in Finance..
According to a statement signed by Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the Government, Adangor and Kamalu’s redeployment was approved by the Governor Siminilayi Fubara with immediate effect.
However, Adangor,in his letter of resignation titled ” CABINET RESHUFFLE: NOTICE OF REJECTION OF DEPLOYMENT AND RESIGNATION FROM THE RIVERS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL”and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Wenike Danagogo on Wednesday said he was no longer willing to serve in the administration of Governor Siminilayi Fubara in any capacity whatsoever.
He said” the governor had in the couple of weeks wilfully interfered with the performance of my duties as the Hon. Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice ,Rivers state by directing me not to defend ,oppose, and appear in suits instituted against the Hon Attorney – General and the Government of Rivers State by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the Government of Rivers State “
“That having served the Government and the good people of Rives State dutifully as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council for the past five (5)years, it has become imperative for me to quit the administration in order to preserve my reputation.
” I wish the administration of His Excellency well ” Adangor said.
On his part, Kamalu traced the history of his appointment to the Rivers State Executive Council to 2015 first for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and second, for the office of Finance where he said he discharged his duties creditably and carried out “relevant reforms’.
