The Families of some slain officers of the Delta State Police Command have received cheques totalling N47,827,529 from the command.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe made this known to newsmen said the State Commissioner of Police,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda made the presentation to the families.
At the presentation,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reiterated “that the welfare of both serving and late officers is part of the primary interest of the Inspector General of Police.”
“On 24/4/2024, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi on behalf of the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM presented cheques of forty-seven million, eight hundred and twenty-seven thousand, five hundred and twenty-nine naira (#47,827,529) to twenty-two families of deceased officers who died while in active service.
“The cheques issued to the next-of-kin of seven deceased officers.
“The cheques issued on behalf of the IGP are part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes.
“The CP who was assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration DCP Tokunbo Afolabi, while presenting the cheques noted that the welfare of both serving and late officers is part of the interest of the Inspector General of Police, and it’s on his behalf that these cheques were presented to them, he also appreciated the gesture by the IGP as the cheques will in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices.
“One of the beneficiaries thanked the IGP for his magnanimity noting that the money given to them will be used judiciously.”
