Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has increased the minimum wage of workers in the state to N70,000.
The new Minimum wage will come into effect on May 1 ,2024.
Obaseki announced this on Monday while inaugurating the Labour House constricted for Labour Unions in the state.
So far, he is the first governor to announce a wage increase for workers.
The development comes less than 5 months to the expiration of his second tenure in office .
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had fixed 21st September 2024 for the conduct of the Governorship election in Edo state.
However, crisis festers in the governor’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP as his choice for lawyer and banker, Asue Ighodalo and the impeachment of his former Deputy, Philip Shaibu may upset the chances of the party in the coming election.
