The Federal Ministry of Works has commenced the payment of N2.75billion to owners of property on the right of way in the construction of the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway.
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi announced this during a stakeholders forum in Lagos on Saturday.
Umahi ,who stated that demolition of properties along the coastal highway being constructed was in line with laid down guidelines ,debunked social media reports that the demolition of a section of Landmark Beach Resort in Lagos did not follow due process.
The Minister also enumerated the economic benefits of the 700km Lagos -Calabar Highway saying it would enhance mobility and bring in the much needed foreign investment and strengthen the naira.
He allayed the fears of individuals who are sceptical about the project and assured that it would not affect projects going on in other areas .
Umahi added that the Federal Government has also approved the design of the 1000km Sokoto to Badagry coastal highway
