The Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ivan Kholostenko, says the country’s food grants to some companies are their contribution to the maintenance of global food security.
Ambassador Kholostenko stated this in an interview with investigators news Correspondents in Abuja.
“You know that Ukraine has always been one of the countries that guarantee global food security in the world, and we will not renege in the process”,
He noted that in the process of delivering the grants and palliatives from Ukraine initiative, the country faced and still facing serious difficulties because of Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine and the military actions in the Black Sea.
” The Russian military were bombarding Ukraine with missiles in ports where grains were stored for export. Our Navy and Military, rose to the occasion and pushed them back from the western part of the Black Sea”, he added.
“I will be grateful if Nigeria, the largest country in Africa, plays an important role in discussions of what is going on in Ukraine” Ambassador Kholostenko stated.
He explained that Ukraine is currently working to organize a Global Peace summit in the nearest future, and that invitations are already being extended to many leaders in the world to attend the event.
” We want peace as any one in the world, because we are suffering from insurgency, but at the same time, we are not ready for peace at just any price”.
Ambassador Kholostenko noted that Ukraine didn’t start the war, as such, if Russia stops fighting, the war will be over.
” Russia is presently occupying about 20% of Ukrainian territory, after alleged atrocities committed by them”.
He called on the United Nations to maintain peace among nations, but it does appear that the charter is not working.
“United Nations should do all it can to uphold the fundamental principles of its charter, to maintain territorial integrity”, Kholostenko appealed.
