The International Police Organization, INTERPOL, has appointed Nigerian Police Commissioner, CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, as the Chairman of the African Heads of Cybercrime Units, comprising heads of 54 countries.
CP Uche, who heads the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF -NCCC), succeeds Ratjindua Tjivikua of Namibia.
During the Africa Working Group Meeting on Cybercrime, CP Uche advocated for the establishment of African Incident Response Mechanism and Cybersecurity Frameworks to enhance collaboration in combating cybercrime.
He emphasized the need for resource sharing and the establishment of specialized cybercrime units across Africa.
In response to his appointment, CP Uche pledged to lead efforts in fostering collaboration among member units to effectively prevent and investigate cybercrimes in Africa.
Minister of State, Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity capabilities and fostering international cooperation mechanisms.
