The Delta State Correctional Command has confirmed the escape of an inmate sentenced to death from the state correctional centre.
The inmate,Paul Michael, reportedly escaped twenty a day after the new Controller of the correctional centre, Raymond Neagu assumed duties.
The suspect was arraigned and imprisoned after he was accused of killing a furniture apprentice,Kelly Onojaiyefe ,in Ogara town in the Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the escape, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ikechukwu Iloba said that” the controller is peeved by the development and has immediately launched investigations over the incident”
Iloba said that the Controller General Zone G has ordered immediate investigation to find out the remote and immediate cause of the incident adding that the Controller has set up an investigation team which he is leading under the instructions of the Controller General Zone G and that whoever is found guilty would be” sanctioned accordingly.”
