After the first 2024 presidential debate between former president,Donald Trump and President Joe Biden which was sponsored by CNN on Thursday night in Atlanta, opinion polls swelled in favour of Trump as winner of the debate.
The polls suggested that while many who watched the debate felt that though, Biden delivered transparent and truthful defence of his administration and what he aspires to do differently, Trump spewed lies but was more coordinated.
However,amid growing concerns about Biden’s health ,age and capability to handle the first office again ,Biden, inspired by the criticism of his performance, fought back hours after the debate and renewed faith with his supporters.
Addressing his teeming supporters on Friday,Biden addressed the issue of age as he cleared air that he is not a young man ,” I can do the job”. “I don’t debate as I used to but I know how to tell the truth. “
Furthermore ,he said” I believe in honesty, decency and treat people with respect”
Speaking about his predecessor,Trump,Biden remarked “Trump is ready for revenge and retribution which is unknown to America”
The president said Trump is a threat to freedom and democracy.He recalled that Trump had said that America is a dead nation and wondered how he would run an election in a dead country
In the debate anchored by Jake Tapper,CNN anchor ” State of the Union and colleague,Dana Bash, chair of” Inside Politics, Biden cited Trump’s actions towards the outcome of the last general elections saying that they do not suggest that he will accept the outcome of the coming election if he lost.
Both Biden and Trump are presumptive nominees for the Tuesday November 5 Presidential election in the United States.
The two men have also been on the campaign trail to sell their party’s manifestoes to the public.
Biden 81 , a lawyer,, former congressman and Senator, representing his Party,Demoratic Party will lock horns with Trump 76 ,a businessman and first former president to face criminal charges in the US history. He was found guilty of falsifying business records in relation to a hush money payment to adult – film actress, Stormy Daniels.
The Republican party hopeful faces three more criminal cases that have not been tried yet and other legal issues relating to his business empire.
