Following protests by Stakeholders in Thursday’s policy meeting of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB in Abuja, the Minister of Education,Prof. Tahir Mamman has made a U- turn on the minimum entry age to Tertiary Institutions in the country
According to him,Heads of tertiary institutions could be allowed to admit candidates who are 16 years of age
Earlier, the Minister had declared that only candidates who are 18 years and above could be admitted to tertiary institutions in line with the educational policy ‘s guideline in the country.
However, following protests by major stakeholders who attended the meeting on Thursday, the Minister backed down on the eighteen year entry age saying schools could admit candidates who have reached age 16 and above.
