Nigeria’s Women’s Basketball Team D’ Tigress on Wednesday lost their2024 Olympic quarter finals encounter to the United States Team. In Paris.
The match which was held at the Bercy Arena saw the D” Tigress put up an impressive performance but their desire to reach the semi final was scuttled by the world number 1 team with 88-74 points.
The US team will play the semi final match with Australia on Friday while France,the host country will slug it out with Belgium in the other semi final match on Friday. The winners of the semi final matches will play for the goal medal in the final on Sunday .
But inspite of the defeat, the D’ Tigress under 32- year – old coach Rena Wakama made history as the first African Basketball team to reach olympic quarter finals.
The team has also moved from No 12 position to No 8 in the latest world ranking.
