Members of the Nigerian Governors Forum NGF on Thursday paid a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State to commiserate with the government and the people of the state over the recent flooding in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The floods caused by overstretch of capacity of the Alau Dam ferociously emptied its content and internally displaced thousands of residents and even sacked public institutions including the teaching hospital,courts,schools and the zoo, the abode of wildlife.
More than 30 persons have been reported dead while several are said to be missing.
The disaster drew the attention of both the Nigerian government and foreign bodies particularly in the area of assistance to those affected.
Few hours after the flood occurred, President Bola Tinubu asked the Vice president to visit the state capital and see to the plight of the people. The president also directed the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to move in quickly and salvage the victims while expressing his sympathy to the state and the people for the occurrence.
The latest to empathise with the people are governors led by their chairman,Kwara state Governor Abdurrahman Adurrazak .
The governors arrived at the state capital and undertook a tour of the affected areas
They stressed the need for more intervention saying that the state government can not do it alone.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the allocation of N108 billion to support the states in addressing natural disasters, with each state receiving N3 billion to aid their efforts.
Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, whose capital city is currently suffering from severe
