Zagazola Makama,a security analyst says staff and students who were abducted by bandits seven months ago have been released.
Makama who revealed this on his X account on Monday said the release was a major effort of security agencies.
He wrote ” All abducted students and staff of Federal University Gusau have been released and are in good health “
The victims were abducted during a raid by bandits in Gusau , the state capital in February this year.
Zamfara,a once peaceful state in Nigeria’s North West has lately converted to a den of bandits.
According to Global Terrorism index 2020, there are over 10,000 armed bandits operating in Zamfara state with 105 camps from where they launched attacks, killing over 12,000 people between 2011 and 2021. .
