Members of the House of Representatives have resumed their weekly plenary following the annual recess that began in late July 2024.
This is contained in a statement signed by Rep. Akin Rotimi, Spokesman of the House on X.
He said “Upon resumption on Tuesday,Speaker Tajudeen Abass who presided over the plenary ,read a correspondence from President Tinubu regarding a Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the @Official FCTA. He also approved the votes and proceedings from the plenary held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
” Subsequently, the House observed a moment of silence before adjourning plenary and other legislative engagements in honour of the late Senator ( Dr) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah ,CON,who until his demise was a Senator of the 10th National Assembly.
” Senator Ubah was a distinguished lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District and served as Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources ( Downstream). He passed away in late July 2024 in the United Kingdom at the age of 52.”
Rep Rotimi said that the ” gesture of adjourning plenary in honour of a deceased member is a respected parliamentary tradition in Nigeria’s National Assembly adding ” the House will resume normal legislative business on Wednesday, focused on delivering key priorities outlined in the Legislative Agenda and ensuring effective service delivery to Nigerians.”
