Justice Kudirat Kekere -Ekun is being screened at the Senate for confirmation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
Kekere -Ekun was accompanied by Judges and members of her family.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Justice Kekere -Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria on August 12,2024 following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
She has been in acting capacity until this week when the president upon resumption of the National Assembly from annual recess, forwarded a letter to the Senate for her confirmation.
In the letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Tinubu wrote ” I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere -Ekun CON for confirmation as CJN.
” While it is my hope that this request will receive the expeditious consideration and confirmation of the senate, please , accept the distinguished senate president’s assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards”.
