The Rivers State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu, is facing a new security challenge as reports emerge of a rising cult leader known as ‘general’ Junior regrouping in Ahoada East Local Government Area. The gang leader, said to head the Greenland cult group in Igbu-Orlukwor kingdom, has been linked to recent violence and illegal activities in the area, including killings in Oshiugbokor and neighboring communities.
CP Disu, renowned for his tactical operations, has overseen the neutralization of five notorious cult generals since his appointment, including Silas Odereke, Izuma David aka General Solution, John Togo aka General Togo, Daddy Chukwu, and David Gift aka General 2Baba. However, the regrouping of ‘general’ Junior appears to be testing the resilience of the Rivers State Police Command once again.
The growing concerns in Ahoada East have prompted the Rivers Coalition for Human Rights (RCHR) to call for an urgent intervention. In an article published by Vanguard Newspaper on September 19, the group appealed for the immediate deployment of a security team to restore order in the troubled Oshiugbokor community. According to the group’s petition to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), criminal activities, including oil bunkering, kidnapping, and murder, have continued to terrorize residents.
The petitioners, led by National Coordinator Derefaka Green, highlighted that a retired Chief Superintendent of Police has allegedly employed the services of a notorious cult leader with over 50 men armed with dangerous weapons, including AK-47s. The group claims that this cultist and his gang operate from a camp in Okporowo community, carrying out heinous crimes such as kidnapping, murder, and rape.
Security experts argue that the capabilities of CP Disu and his team are well-established, but they stress the importance of swift and decisive action to contain the latest threat posed by ‘general’ Junior. Residents of Ahoada East remain on edge as the Police Command intensifies its efforts to maintain law and order in the area.
The unfolding situation is being closely monitored, with the hope that CP Disu’s tactical expertise will once again bring stability and peace to Ahoada East, allowing residents to live without fear of the rising criminal activities.
