The authorities in Cameroun have debunked media reports that the Country’s President, Paul Biya is dead.
News of death of the 91- year old President had dominated the social media and mainstream media on Tuesday..
But in a statement early Wednesday,,The Country’s Minister of Communications, Rene Emmanuel Sadi said the President is in good health and will be back in the country any moment from now.
In a related statement, André Magnus Ekoumou, Cameroun’s ambassador to France, said that President Paul Biya has never been hospitalised in Clamart or anywhere in France as being speculated expressing his displeasure at the spread of rumours.
He said the President is currently in Geneva, Switzerland.
Meanwhile , Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona said the government will go after those who are trying, to deceive the public by announcing the death of the president .
Biya is the oldest leader in the world having served as president and head of state country for more than 4 decades.
