In the past few days, it has been nightmarish and heartbroken, electricity wise.
To many people in particular reference to businesses except for the very few ones amongst them, who can afford or have nacks and perhaps little purchasing powers to power their generators in order to have light in their factories or homes due to the ineptitude and incompetent of those charged with responsibilities of doing their work. But regrettably, it is like a parcel of letter when one opens it whatever you see endure it. This is the replica of Nigerian electricity or power sector that is bedeviled with an affliction of people, who know nothing about the sector but are in the business to further impoverish us thereby spell dooms for the economy.
No economy in the world over runs on generators except in Nigeria inspite of the sham -and -shinanigan called Privatisation of the power sector, others like Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who “described sharing of the national assets in the disguise of privatization. What a shame of leadership failure?
The state of the Nation within the last 48 hours where the country is thrown into darkness due to National Grid failure then another National Security failure allegedly admitted by those in-charge with grandiose of implications to the country clearly there is something more than meet the eye. Nigerians are tired of the insecurity as both Mr. President and his Vice are not in the country. The country headed by about 3 persons in the name of Senate President, Speaker and the Secretary to the Government of the federation but are these people recognized by the constitution in that capacity? A Pandora Box is opened let the experts speak.
Is Nigeria now a failed state if not can somebody define what is a failed state?
Are we now better than five years ago? What is the definition of growth and development both politically, economically and socially?
Is Nigeria stranded deep in the ocean of development and now in search of a Saviour?
Is democracy a curse or blessing ? Where are the dividends of democracy in Nigeria? Businesses are sinking daily, the Executive governor of Bauchi, Kaura Bauchi, His Excellency Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed said, “President Tinubu’s policies are not only working but are anti-people hence, change is iminent. The waiting is over, Nigerians are in pains, there are no longer foods for the poor and the vulnerable and downtrodden in the society.
Chief Godswill Apkabio, the President of the Senate said, wherever Nigerians see free foods, we should eat, I don’t doubt it passionately that even in Freetown there are no free food.
The leadership of this country must rise above party politics and seek helping hands, we are not better than two years ago. So many people have spoken, pundits too , even religious and traditional leaders also did their best. Will there be light at the end of tunnel or inferno?
Hopes dim as purchasing powers of the masses are no longer available today, events have proved that the poor masses are hallucinating and gasping for air economically to survive. Facts are there to speak for themselves. Nigerians have no reason to be poor if leadership is people-centric not self- serving.
Where are the voices for the voiceless in the world? Mr. President, things are getting tougher than we expected when you came with the ‘Emilokan’ coinage in the build up to the 2023 elections, many Nigerians including this writer mobilized and campaigned for you hoping that, a ” political Messiah” has come, being a grassroot politician but today it is a different story to tell, no wonder in 1976, a British Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, said, ” a day in politics is indeed a long period of time, anything can happen ‘
Mr. President Sir, do not allow our dreams become a mere wish in the limbo of time . You can get it right if perhaps fresh hands are brought in as Ministers or political decisions that could salvage the whole scenario or situation for a better and flourishing Nigeria. It is not all-over; better days ahead.
We all make mistakes as humans but our obvious courage to right the perceived wrongs make us humans.
