In its Crime Bulletin dated 28th October,2024, the Niger State Police Command says it neutralised a suspected armed robber and recovered AK-47 Rifle ,Pump Action Gun.
The statement signed by SP W.A Abiodun, the Command’s Public Relations Officer on behalf of the police commissioner said that the command received a distress call that some armed robbery were attacking residents in a neighborhood of Gurara Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the Command’s tactical team was deployed to the area immediately and despite the ensuing fierce gun battle with the robbers, one of the robbers was killed.
On 28/10/2024 at about 0500hrs, a distress call was received that, at about 0230hrs of same date, some suspected armed robbers were attacking residences around Toll-gate area of Boyi, Gurara LGA and robbed occupants of their valuables. On receipt of this, Police tactical team stationed at Boyi outstation attached to Gawu-Babangida Div mobilised to the scene.
The team stormed the area and overwhelmed the robbers who were engaged in a fierce gun battle. Consequently, one of the hoodlums was neutralized, one Ak-47 rifle and one automatic pump action rifle were recovered. Two phones robbed from the victims among other valuables were also recovered, while others escaped from the scene with believed gunshot injuries. Investigation into the robbery incident is ongoing and effort to arrest the fleeing members of the gang is intensified.
(2) SUSPECTED DRUG PEDDLER ARRESTED WITH A FIREARM AND SEVEN OTHER MISCREANTS
Similarly, on the same date at about 0100hrs, based on a credible information received that some miscreants were sighted around Angwan-Daji area of Minna taking different illicit drugs and substances. Police operatives attached to Minna Area Command were drafted to the scene and one Ibrahim Aliyu a.k.a Ayici 30yrs, with seven others of five males and two females were arrested behind the vigilante office.
During the arrest at that odd hour, one double barrel gun, knives, suspected cannabis, face masks and other illicit substances were recovered from the suspects. In the course of interrogation, the said Ibrahim Aliyu confessed to be a drug dealer/peddler within the area, and claimed to be a vigilante member using the double barrel gun. He said others arrested were his customers and they couldn’t give a satisfactory account of themselves for being at such a location by that period of time.
(3) SIX SUSPECTED CABLE VANDALS ARRESTED, ARMOURED CABLE RECOVERED
On 27/10/2024 at about 1500hrs, Police operatives attached to Kpakungu Div with vigilante members, while on routine patrol along Keteren-Gwari area of Minna intercepted the following suspects:
-Umar Mustapha 40yrs
-Idris Abdullahi 20yrs
-Mahmud Moh’d 37yrs
-Musa Zakari 42yrs
-Aliyu Musa 60yrs
-Salihu Musa 45yrs all of Alagbado and Keteren-Gwari area, Minna
The suspects were found to have conspired, vandalized and stole street lights armoured cables along Keteren-Gwari road, Minna. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and some of the cables were recovered from them.
(4) TWO SUSPECTED MOTORCYCLES’ THIEVES ARRESTED, A MOTORCYCLE RECOVERED
0n 22/10/2024 at about 0400hrs, Police operatives of Minna Area Command intercepted and arrested two suspects;
-Mohammed Hassan 22yrs
-Isah Mohammed 20yrs, both of Kpakungu area, Minna
The suspects were intercepted and arrested at Obasanjo complex area of Minna at the early hour of the day with a red Hajoue Cargo motorcycle. During interrogation, they confessed that they stole the motorcycle from Tunga area of Minna, and that they were planning to sell it to their receiver in Mokwa. Investigation in progress.
