The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has uploaded nearly 100 % of the Ondo Governorship Election Results on IReV
Earlier,on Saturday, the people of Ondo filed out to vote for a candidate of their choice that would govern the state for a period of four years.
Voting began at about 8:30 am in the 3933 polling units in the state.
INEC cleared 18 candidates for the election but the candidates of the All Progressives Congress APC, incumbent governor,Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP are the frontrunners.
Both men were at several times Deputies to the late governor of the state, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu. But while Ajayi towards the end of Akeredolu ‘s first term in office to pick the ZLP ticket for the governorship election, Akeredolu picked Aiyedatiwa as Ajayi ‘s replacement for his reelection. Following the death of Akeredolu in December 2023,Aiyedatiwa was sworn – in as Governor of the state.
However, with voting concluded, the police force monitoring the exercise led by Deputy Inspector General of Police DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi are reportedly “conducting a series of rigorous inspections of polling units and collation centres aimed at ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process”
Current matters gathered that the police are restricting movements of unauthorised persons at collation centres
