The Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Digital Media and Strategy, Demola Olarewaju has berated Daniel Bwala,a former member of the Atiku team over what he described as ” demotion ‘ of Bwala in the restructuring of the presidential media team.
Bwala,had on Monday addressed the Villa press crew, where he claimed to be the Spokesman of the president having been appointed as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication,a position Ajuri Ngelale recently held.
” I only came to introduce myself to you and the role that was given to me by Mr President.I told you that role was once occupied by Ajuri Ngelale. But for God’s sake,we are all colleagues.
” We are not particularly bothered about who is this,who is that.We are working to achieve the mandate of Mr. President”
However, few hours after Bwala’s statement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy clarified the situation in a statement he posted tagged” Tinubu Approves Restructuring of Media and Communications Team ‘ where Bwala was redesignated Special Adviser ( Policy Communication).

According to Onanuga, the appointments, along with that of his ” underscores that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency . Instead,all the three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government.
But taking to his X ,Atiku’s Digital Media Assistant, Olarewaju said ” Egbon Onanuga didn’t wait till morning or later to issue that pres release re-designating Bwala’s position.Man dropped it” as e dey hot” at 11:28 in the night.
” It means they accessed Tinubu,made their case and demoted Bwala then came out immediately to announce it.
” The coded message to Bwala is ‘ You might be in office but we are in power.
” You might Know Tinubu but we’ve known Tinubu.We might let you be with us but you’re not one of us and you will know your place or we will quickly teach you.
” This is what happens when one has no shame” Olarewaju added.
Recall that Bwala was a core member of the All Progressives Congress APC Campaign Council before the 2023 elections but publicly jettisoned the APC’s ( Muslim – Muslim) ticket and aligned with Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP where he was appointed one of the spokespersons.
Before his recent appointment, Bwala had met with President Tinubu on several occasions at home and abroad.
