The Fugar Community in Etsako Central Local Government of Edo State has reported a gas leakage incident late Saturday evening.
The incident occured along the pipeline passing through the area near the General Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital opposite the High Court in Fugar.
The Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon Solomon Obomighie, in his proactive nature to safe guiding residents of Fugar, has taken swift action to address the situation, notifying the relevant agencies.
Also in response to the emergency, the traditional rulers in Fugar clan, the Department of State Services (DSS), the work’s department of Etsako Central council, the Nigeria Police, and local vigilantes have been mobilized to assist in managing the situation. These collective efforts are aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in the affected area and mitigating any potential risks associated with the gas leakage.
Residents living in that affected area have been advised to avoid using cell phones and electronic gadgets, while pedestrians should use alternative routes to avoid fire outbreaks.
“The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved are instrumental in ensuring the well-being and safety of residents in the vicinity of the gas leakage. Regular evaluations and monitoring of the situation are being conducted to proactively manage any potential hazards and safeguard the community”.
The Local Government spokesman, Anthony Igbanor, said in a statement that authorities are currently on-site assessing the extent of the leakage and implementing necessary measures to contain and resolve the situation.
“The cooperation and collaboration of all involved parties are crucial in effectively managing this incident and minimizing any potential impact on the community”, Igbanor noted.
