The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced that several parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will experience scheduled power outages from January 6 to January 21, 2025. The outages are due to the relocation of key transmission infrastructure, including the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and the 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers, along the Outer Southern Expressway. This project is being carried out by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
In a statement shared via its official X account, AEDC outlined the affected areas, which include several major neighborhoods across Abuja. These areas are set to experience temporary power interruptions during the period of the project.
According to AEDC, the following areas will be impacted: Lugbe and its surroundings, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, American International School, Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, EFCC Headquarters, Coca-Cola, Railway, FMC, parts of Apo, Gudu, Gbazango, parts of Kubwa, Bwari, Jahi, Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi, and other surrounding neighborhoods.
AEDC expressed regret over the inconvenience these power disruptions may cause and thanked the public for their understanding as the essential project progresses.
