Donald J. Trump has been sworn – in as the 47th President of the United States of America.
The president who took the oath of office delivered by Chief Justice John Roberts at the Capital Rotunda in Washington DC said” the Golden Age of America begins right now “
He said our top priority would be to create a nation that would be prosperous and free.
Trump said his recent election was a mandate to change the many betrayals saying from”
this moment on, America’s decline is over”.
The president said that his journey to remake America has not been easy citing his close shave with death during the campaign trail “I was saved by God to make America great again” Trump said.
Trump while acknowledging the contributions of the Hispanic people, the Black and others for his reelection and, reflecting on the Martin Luther King junior’s day which incidentally falls on his inaugural day, said that he would make the dream of the late Civil Rights Activist , MLK to come true.
Some other takeaways of his inaugural day speech include, stopping government censorship of information., priotising law and order in the country,an order recognising two gender groups ( Male and Female) and renaming of the Panama Canal.
The roll call of dignitaries at the event included former presidents,Joe Biden and wife, George W. Bush and wife,Bill Clinton and wife, Barrack Obama, Kamala Harris and husband, and Mike Pence, former Vice president.
Trump was reelected 47th president of the United States after winning the November 2024 election against the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris. He was elected 45th President in November 2016 but was defeated by the outgone president,Joe Biden in November 2020 .
