The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.
He replaces Ishola Olarewaju Olawale.
The change in leadership comes amid leadership tussle in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
On January 13, the lawmakers in Lagos impeached Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker and elected Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as successor.
Dissatisfied with the impeachment,Obasa challenged the decision of the lawmakers after reportedly consulting party chieftains including President Bola Tinubu.
On Monday, February 17, the Lagos Assembly was locked up by a combined team of security officers including the Department of State Services.
The scenario left Speaker Meranda and other principal officers in limbo until hours later, when members gathered and adjourned proceedings.
As of press time no reason was given for the show of force at the Lagos Assembly.
