Passengers aboard an Air Peace flight experienced a harrowing ordeal as their aircraft made an emergency landing in Lagos on Wednesday.
The flight, initially scheduled for 4:35 pm, had been rescheduled to 1:35 PM due to technical issues with the originally assigned aircraft. Passengers, boarding the replacement plane, anticipated a smooth journey to Abuja but were met with a terrifying mid-air crisis.
Just 15 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced a technical malfunction in one of the engines, caused by a bird strike.
The aircraft, battered by another bird strike shortly after takeoff, began to vibrate violently, throwing the cabin into chaos. Passengers reacted with a mix of loud prayers, silent pleas, and stunned silence.
The tension in the cabin was palpable as the pilot informed passengers of the immediate need to return to Lagos. The descent was fraught with anxiety, every jolt intensifying the fear.
Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency responders, and passengers were instructed to remain seated momentarily.

Air Peace officials reassured passengers that bird strikes, although rare, are a known aviation hazard. They promised a larger aircraft for the continued journey to Abuja, though some passengers opted for alternative flights. Nearly two hours after the ordeal, many passengers remained at the airport, waiting for a resolution to their disrupted travel plans.
This incident highlights the resilience of the passengers and the professionalism of the crew in handling an unprecedented situation, reminding us all of the unpredictable nature of air travel.
