After months in denial of moves to join the All Progressives Congress APC,Gov Felix Oborevwori ( PDP)has announced his defection to the APC.
Announcing the defection at a Press conference in Asaba, the Delta State capital, attended by Senator Ifeayi Okowa, former Governor of Delta State and running mate to the PDP candidate in the 2023 Presidential election,Atiku Abubakar, Senator James Manager told the press that a formal declaration would be made on Monday
Manager said the entire structure of the PDP in the state has been fused into the APC, adding that the defection was for the overall interest of the state.
Current matters gathered that four governors are being coerced into joining the APC to achieve a second term victory for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Recall that Okowa, was recently arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC over alleged diversion of N1.3 trillion.
In the same vein, some officials including the state Accountant General, and the former Director of Finance and administration , Government House..
Oborevwori ‘s defection comes days after Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom publicly announced his support for a Tinubu second term victory fueling speculations of a possible defection to the APC.
As of now , things have fallen apart in the PDP that once ruled the country for 16 years and boasted that it was the biggest party in Africa and unbeatable. Going by the unfolding events,it appears Nigeria would witness the dawn of a one party state sooner .
