Nigeria’s Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Mr Clement Agba, has emphasised the need for Budgeting in ensuring that the benefits of effective governance reach rural areas.
Mr Agba stated this at a Retreat organised by the Weppa Wanno Pyramid Club of Nigeria 2021, with the theme: Security Challenges in Our Communities; The Way Forward.
He said that Budgeting will enable measures to be put in place to improve the health of both rural and urban dwellers.
Mr Clement Agba restated the commitment of Buhari administration to ensuring that issues of rural development and it’s enablers continue to feature in the National budget by way of support to subnational governments or direct interventions.
The high point of the occasion was the conferment of an award to the Honourable Minister, State, Budget and National Planning, Mr Clement Agba, as the Icon of Rural Development in Nigeria.
In another development, Mr Agba, says there is dire need of comprehensive and disaggregated multidimensional poverty data that will influence policy formulations.
“While we have historical data on monetary poverty, there is a huge gap for non-monetary deprivations that increase the intensity of vulnerabilities our citizens face” Agba explained.
